Elegy Written In A Country Churchyard (Signed by Illustrator), Gray, Thomas
3 Gray, Thomas Elegy Written In A Country Churchyard (Signed by Illustrator)
London Limited Editions Club 1938 First LEC Hardcover Fine Slipcased Agnes Miller Parker
An exquisite copy of the 1938 Limited Editions Club copy of this very famous Elegy--this is copy 1165 of only 1,500 copies produced. This edition is designed by Robert Ashwin Maynard and printed at The Raven Press at Alperton Middlesex. This copy is signed by the illustrator Agnes Miller Parker--and the illustrations were taken from drawings first done at the same Churchyard where Thomas Gray sat and mused over the Elegy in the 18th Century. This copy is in fine condition with the original plastic like covering protected the cover and enclosed in a slipcase. The slipcase is in near fine condition without any edgewear but with a little light discoloration to one panel--or would also be fine. Hard to find this title in an LEC publication on the internet. Of course, beautifully produced in the usual quality of the Limited Editions Club with handmade paper. A very collectible copy.

Tokyo Limited Editions Club 1932 First Limited Decorative Silki Very Good Slipcased--Handmade Silk Yasumasa, Fujita
Limited edition of 1,500 copies published in 1932 for the Limited Editions Club and signed with seal and chop by the Japanese illustrator on a special limitations page. This is copy 109. A beautifully produced book in decorative silk covers--of popular Japanese stories of the afterlife. Gold silk with gilt decorations and black lettering. The spine is bound Japanese style with gilt top edge. Decorative wood cut prints and decorated pastedowns and endpapers. Just a lovely hand made book by the famous Japanese Shimbi Shoin in Tokyo. This copy is in very good condition. The front and back silk covered boards are fine. There is some darkening to a couple of the interior pages and to where the ink from the color woodcuts has transferred to the opposite page. There is also a light damp stain to the upper part of the pages--although it doesn't take away much from the overall look of the book. Original tissue guard covering title page is still in place. Includes the original silk covered hard board slipcase which originally surrounded the book--which is in a darker gold color with paper labels indicating the book was produced by the Shimbi Shoin and the copy number 109. This slipcase is held together with silk thread and shell bone. Altogether a lovely example of how a Japanese book can come close to being a work of art in itself. Digital pics available upon request.

7 Jerome, Jerome K. Three Men In A Boat
Ipswich Limited Editions Club 1975 First Limited Decorative Cloth Fine Near Fine Slipcase Griffiths, John
One of only 2,000 copies produced for members of the Limited Editions Club. This is copy number 882 and is signed by the illustrator on a special limitations page in the verso. Decorated pastedowns and endpapers. Multi-colored striped decorative cloth boards. Gilt titling to the spine. Fine condition in a near fine slipcase that shows only minor toning from age--the book itself appears to have been never opened. A fine collectable copy. Three Men In A Boat was first published in 1889. The geographical locations in England are still there--but gone forever is the silence threaded only by bird calls and the rippling of the river--the sweet landscape that was then typically English--one thing for sure--this is still a great read--a fun read--and quite a collectable publication from LEC.
