First Printing 1976. A Near Fine copy in an unclipped and very good dustjacket. Signed by Higgins on the title page--signature only. Light age toning only. No interior marks--a very clean copy. The dustjacket has some age toning (darkening) to the spine--otherwise would also be fine. From a recent Bonham's and Butterfields auction of modern firsts with the auction tag still enclosed. Protected in a Brodart dustjacket covering. A great story about an act of reckless courage in the final throes of WWII--as Germany faces defeat--the captain of the German supply ship "Deutschland" decides to risk sailing into "Allied" waters in disguise as a Swedish vessel--and in the end--the struggle ends up being with an implacable foe--the sea. Jack Higgins at his best--a great storyteller with one of his best works of fiction. A very collectable copy--scarce signed. Shipped Priority Mail at Media Mail prices.

A clean and unmarked copy with light age toning. There is a very slight spine slant to this copy--although almost not enough to mention. The dustjacket is price clipped and shows just the very lightest rubbing and edgewear. Now protected in Brodart jacket covering. A great WWII yarn about the German vessel "Deutchland" sailing in hostile waters as the war winds down. Higgins at his best storytelling skills. Rare to find a first print copy signed.
