First American Edition-First Print 1953. Green cloth with red lettering to front boards and spine. Very Good to Near fine condition for age--only slight fading to spine and a couple of light scratches to front board. Tight square and clean throughout--very collectable condition. You would be hard pressed to find a nicer copy. Original "Vroman's Pasadena" brown small tag to front pastedown--from the legendary decades old bookstore. 363 pp. Dozens and dozens of B&W photographs, maps and drawings. Very collectable condition for the Chinese art book collector.

First Printing 1931. An exquisite copy in fine condition in a near fine--lightly age toned dustjacket. Green cloth with gilt lettering and decorations to the spine. Also lists Jonathan Cape as publishers to the title page--so may have been issued by both parties. This is a handsomly made book with only the best period paper. Absolutely no fading to the pages or the the ends--just the mildest of age toning. Light soiling to the cream colored DJ but for 1931--fantastic condition. An art collector's dream copy--they just don't make books like this any longer--only the finest materials used. Covers ancient times to modern with 80 plates.

First Edition 1963. Black cloth with gilt lettering to front and spine in very good condition (near fine). Shows some aging and fading to spine--but clean, tight, and square throughout without any markings. A couple of tape pull discolorations on front and back pastedowns where previous owner had taped acetate D/J to book. However there is no dustjacket. Very collectable copy with full color illustrations. Photographs of art items from the finest of European museums--bronzes, pottery and porcelain, painting and calligraphy.

Dustjacket has been price clipped and is only rubbed slightly from shelfwear--protected in a mylar dustjacket covering. Collectable.

An absolutely exquisite book in turquoise cloth with gilt lettering and decorations to front and spine/ Tipped in artwork in color plates throughout---including paste down on front cover of Chinese Pottery. Copy is still contained in the original glassine dustjacket in good condition with crack taped in back and lightly rubbed. Front pastedown and endpaper decorated in bamboo pictorial. Original (and small) "Vroman's Pasadena" brown tag--legendary California decades old bookstore on front pastedown. Rear pastedown and endpaper decorated as well. Spine beginning to give a little--otherwise in remarkable condition for age. Covers the beginning of Chinese painting up until the Ch-ing Dynasty till 1911. This is a handmade highly collectable artbook--exquisite with tipped in plates.
