Iberia (Signed First Printing), Michener, James
1 Michener, James Iberia (Signed First Printing)
USA Random House 1968 First Printing Hardcover Fine Very Good
A superb fine copy in a very good dustjacket. This copy is signed by Michener on the title page--signature only without any inscriptions. This is a first print copy with "First Printing" on the copyright page. A huge book--818 pages--Michener never did anything halfheartedly--was a prolific author who loved to travel the world and explore the regions he wrote about--mixing historical fact together with characters and fiction--he almost single handedly developed the historical novel genre in modern American literature. This copy of Iberia is tight and clean throughout with a tight binding and secure spine--something important with such a large book. The dustjacket is price clipped and shows edgewear to the extremities with two closed end tears. Dozens of photographs included in the book by Robert Vavra. Quite uncommon to find this title signed by Michener.

Miracle In Seville (First Printing), Michener, James
2 Michener, James Miracle In Seville (First Printing)
Westminster, Maryland Random House 1995 0679418229 / 9780679418221 First Hardcover
First Random House Printing (2-10). A stunning and very fine copy in an unclipped and fine dustjacket--protected in a BrodArt plastic jacket cover. 26 woodcut illustrations by former matador John Fulton highlight the beauty of this fine book. Michener returns to Spain, with this magical novel of Seville at Eastertide-- a season of splendid pageantry, thrilling bullfights, and deep piety--and, of course, miracles. An American journalist is on assignment to investigate a line of bulls, and a proud owner of the once famous line of bulls, who insists that faith has returned his bulls to honor despite the work of two antagonists--an arrogant matador named Gomez, and a Gypsy fortune teller. A very collectable work of fiction and a beautiful limited issue book.

Selected Writings of James A. Michener (Signed by Michener), Michener, James
3 Michener, James Selected Writings of James A. Michener (Signed by Michener)
USA Modern Library (Random House) 1957 First Printing Hardcover Fine Near Fine
A superb and fine copy in a price-clipped near fine dustjacket. This copy is signed by Michener, signature only, on the title page. A tight and clean totally unmarked copy in as new condition--the dustjacket is price clipped or would also be fine. Stories and articles of Michener included in this little book "Tales of the South Pacific" "Return to Paradise", "The Voice of Asia" and the complete text of "The Bridges of Toko-Ri". In the forward by Michener--he contemplates the publication of his first book, "Tales of the South Pacific" interestingly relating how neither he nor the publisher thought the book had much chance at success--where the cheapest quality paper and binding was used as well as the close-knit type set to save space and paper. Michener states that by chance one reviewer gave it special attention and the book subsequently won the Pulitzer Prize--even-though it did not meet many of the committee's rules to apply. Michener, astonishigly wrote that first book when he was already 40 years of age--which relates to us just how prolific a writer he was. This title is rare to find signed--a great addition to any Michener collector's bookcase.
