The Brave Bulls (Signed First Printing)

By: Lea, Tom

Price: $295.00

Quantity: 1 available

First Printing 1949. From the recently auctioned collection of M. B. Goldstone--with the auction tag tipped in. A superb fine copy in a good- very good unclipped dustjacket. This copy is distinctively signed & inscribed to collector and well known Steinbeck bibliographer Goldstone by Lea on the half title page and features his dynamic illustrations throughout the book--including the pastedowns and endpapers. This is a near flawless copy--- in gift quality condition. The dust jacket has some light to moderate edgewear to the usual places--head and heel of the spine and extremities--and there are a couple of small closed end tears that fold together nicely with no paper loss-- overall a nice bright dustjacket. A true first printing with the added distinctive color artwork on the title page and "Published April 1949" on the copyright page. Also included with the book is an invitation to Goldstone to attend the El Paso Chamber of Commerce testimonial dinner honoring author Tom Lea on September 14, 1957 at the El Paso Country Club. Goldstone, along with his brother Adrian--were Steinbeck's official bibliographers--and well known names in the bibliography of American authors (Goldstone & Payne)-and were also well known book collectors--amassing thousands of titles--mostly in early western and detective fiction.
