Stated first printing on the copyright page. A very good copy in an very good dustjacket. A clean and unmarked interior. Four small tape ghosts and soiling to the cloth boards and endpapers- two on top and two on the bottom--although not stamped a library issue---there is some indication that it might be--and it is price accordingly . Previous owner may have had a clipping attached to the front cover. Light age toning to the fore edge--but overall a very good copy. The dustjacket has been price clipped and has very very minor chipping to the head of the spine--along with some rubbing and a thin crease to the front. Shaw's 2nd novel after "The Young Lions". "The Troubled Air" was a look into "McCarthyism" and it resulted in Shaw being blacklisted in Hollywood and accused of being a commnusist. Shaw left the USA and lived in Europe for the next 25 years but later said that the blacklisting only partially hurt his writing career.
