From the recently auctioned collection of well known collector M.B. Goldstone--with his splendid gold bookplate attached to the front pastedown and with his penciled signature with "First Printing" notation. A very nice first print copy in fine condition, red cloth with black and gold gilt lettering and decorations to front board and spine. Top edge gilt, other two sides uncut. A splendid copy with a well known illustrator. Frontispiece has the original tissue guard still in place. No interior markings whatsoever--Goldstone, who's copy of "The Great Gatsby" sold for over $150,000 at auction in 2009, is also the brother of Adrian Goldstone--who was Steinbeck's bibliographer. Very hard to find in the original 1906 publication and in this splendid condition.
