First Edition/First Printing 1977. A very fine copy of a must have for the London collector in a very good price clipped dustjacket that has one minor repaired closed end tear with minor shelfwear and minor rubbing--else very good D/J. A presentable biography on the writer's life with questionable conclusions on his death. Arguably America's finest short story writer and novelist along with Mark Twain and Edgar Allan Poe, London's life was short lived and exhuberant- to say the least. What he accomplished in 39 years is remarkable- from publishing 50 novels and short story compilations to sailing around the globe in his own sailboat to running for mayor of Oakland, California- to panning for gold in the Yukon and covering Jack Johnson/Dempsey prize fights for a newspaper---only barely touches on his accomplishments. Perhaps we will never know if he commited suicide by overdose or died of natural complications of kidney failure. Author Andrew Sinclair is also the author of "Dylan Thomas".
