A fine copy in a near-fine unclipped dustjacket. This copy has been signed by Martin Amis directly on the title page-signature only. In addition--this copy has been signed by Norman Mailer (pg 73), and by Kurt Vonnegut on pg 137 with the sentiment "Peace". Amis wrote a chapter on Mailer and Vonnegut in this book of literary criticism. The chapter on Mailer seems incredibly harsh --it seems almost inconceivable that Mailer would have signed the last page of the chapter on him--where Amis has written "Mailer's life and times seem mostly ridiculous: incorrigibly ridiculous--subhuman--between Menenhetet I and Gary Gilmore". Amis hasn't many kind things to say about Vonnegut either--"he is the sort of writer whom serious people are ashamed of ever having liked". "Cute, coy, tricksy, mawkish--gee-whiz writing, comic book stuff". Yet Vonnegut has signed at the end of the chapter that Amis featured on him-- "Vonnegut-After the Slaughterhouse". Makes one wonder if the two authors that Amis featured had actually read the book. Otherwise extremely scarce signed by two other well-known authors with the fame of Mailer and Vonnegut. Light rubbing to the dustjacket only. Offered by a Vonnegut specialist--from the collection of Donald Olson. We purchase Vonnegut books in fine to near-fine condition.
